PROM TRANSPORTATION - MAKE A SAFE CHOICE

From breathtaking Jovani prom dresses to the last sparkling hair accessory, everyone wants to arrive at the Prom in style. You’ve spent gobs of time choosing from prom dresses, and looking through prom tips for ideas on your hair, make-up and your body. Your date has the perfect tux, looks great and has a great boutonnière, and can’t wait to spend Prom 2008 with you. But how on earth will you get there?

The best choice is for neither of you to drive to Prom 2008. Whether this means hiring someone to chauffeur the two of you to dinner, the dance, and any after-Prom events, or relying on a family member, it’s really the best choice. While you may have no intention of partying so much that you can’t drive, you can never know for sure what will happen once things really get going. While we're going to be politically correct and assume no underage reader will drink, that’s only one reason to have a driver.

The following prom tips of having a hired driver or trusted family member available to get you where you need to go will demonstrate that you are wise beyond your years and that you are conscious of the possibilities that may threaten your safety. Remember, you won’t be the only ones on the road that night. And driving may not be your main concern.

Pay Your Way

Hiring a car – whether it’s a limo, classic car or other type of transportation is a good way to go. The average rental price for a stretch limo is about $400 for the night, not including the driver’s tip, parking fees or tolls. If you’re planning on splitting the cost of the limo between some other couples, this is actually a very safe and somewhat economical way to go to Prom 2008. The driver takes care of everything; filling up the gas tank, parking the car, and knowing which routes to take to get you safely to your destination(s). (Imagine having to stop for gas on the way to the Prom and arriving with your gown smelling of gasoline!!!)

The Kindness of Others

Of course, you can also rely on the kindness and goodwill of others to get you and your date to the Prom. An older brother or sister, or even cousin may be willing to drive you around. You may even consider offering them gas money, at the very least. Since gas is so expensive these days, offering to pay for gasoline will probably make them more amenable. You can even ask your parents or your date’s parents to do the honors. If you don’t want to be too much of a burden, you may be able to convince all the parents to share the duties; maybe your parents can drive you and your date to dinner and the dance, and his parents can pick you up and deliver you to the party afterwards and then home again.

No matter how you end up getting to the Prom 2008, remember that doing so safely should be a top priority, and if that means getting someone else to do the driving for you, go for it. You’ll have more time to concentrate on your special date! Prom dresses and tuxedos are fun, but if you don’t know how you’re getting there in the first place- what use are the fancy duds?

Tips On Choosing A Limo Company

For individuals thinking about hiring a limo for the first time, knowing what limo company to choose can be a daunting task. They might not know what to look for in a good limo company and what signals alert them to a bad limo company. With so many choices to choose from in many locations, choosing the right limo company to choose can be a difficult task.

By following some simple tips for choosing a limo company, individuals can reduce the risk of getting ripped off and ensure a memorable occasion for all.

The most important thing to consider when deciding which limo company to choose is whether the limo company is a reputable, licensed limo company. Limo companies must be licensed by the appropriate agency to be able to operate as a limo company that carries passengers. There are certain criteria that the company must satisfy in order to retain their license to carry passengers, including carrying sufficient insurance to be able to handle any accidents that may arise. The limo and the driver should be professional in appearance and demeanor at all times and the customer service representatives that take the reservations and answer questions should be courteous and willing to help. If any of these items are lacking, you may want to think about choosing a different limo company
to hire your limo from.

The reputation of the company is also important when choosing a limo company to make a reservation with. In our society, bad news travels fast, so if you are hearing or finding a great deal of negative information about a limo company, choose a different company. Ask friends and family members if there is a limo company that they would recommend or recommend that you avoid. Business associates and co-workers may also be able to provide you with insight into which limo company you should choose.

Different limo companies have different prices for different reasons. Different limos have different amenities which may affect the price of the rental. Different styles and model years of the limos may also affect the price, as the more popular limos are more desirable and may not be available as often. When receiving a price quote for a limo rental, be sure to inquire about the model year, style, and amenities of the limo that is being offered for your reservation. Limo companies typically include the uniformed driver and beverage service in the base price
of the rental. Any additional services, such as red carpet service, flowers, or champagne typically costs extra.

There are several types of limousines available (SUV, stretch limo, party bus, etc.). Choose the type that works best for your occasion, taking into consideration how many are in your party and what your plans are. In selecting the limousine company, you want to make sure the one you choose is properly licensed and insured. Although it may appear to be less expensive to hire an unlicensed limousine provider, if an accident were to happen and someone in your party were to get hurt, you would have no recourse. You can ask around to representatives from other companies that regularly use limousine services to find out about various limousine companies' reputations.

Find out if the company has a contingency plan in case the limousine is in an accident or breaks down. If not, then you have two choices. You either have a backup plan in mind or hire another limousine service that you know does have a contingency plan. Conversely, it may be you that has unforeseen problems, so make sure you know in advance what the company's cancellation policy is.

The cost to rent a limousine can range between $50 and $150. Ask the limousine company what amenities are included in the price. Knowing up front what you are and are not getting eliminates surprises later. Costs can vary based on current demand (such as during prom and wedding seasons). It's worth checking with your local hotel and airport limousine services because many times you can get a better rate through them.

You'll want to know up front whether or not the company accepts credit cards. Once the service has been booked ask for a written confirmation to be faxed or sent in the mail. Another critical action you need to take is to make sure you are getting the car you asked for. Just before the event, arrange to see the car and check it out. Is it clean? Does it smell like cigarette smoke? Are you getting an "older" (interpret as less reliable and less comfortable) limousine? Be sure to have all those problems and questions addressed before the time of pickup.

If there are several people in your party, it's always a good idea to have everyone in your party meet at one location to avoid extra pickup and drop off time. We realize that sometimes this is part of the fun, so use that as a guideline, but realize the cost may go up if the driver has to make extra stops. To avoid any awkward moments between you and the driver, be sure you know the company's tipping policies. Some encourage it while others don't. It's also a very good idea to get the chauffeur's name and cell phone number to maintain contact and get a hold of them if necessary if the timeline changes and your group needs to be picked up earlier or later.

Policies vary between companies regarding pets. Some allow them while others don't. If you need to travel with your pet, you'll want to know this in advance. Also, if you have special needs such as a child seat or handicapped person(s), you'll want to address this with the company beforehand.

If you plan carefully and ask the right questions while you are still in the selection process, you'll be more likely to choose the service that best suits your needs and adds a nice touch to whatever event or meeting your are attending.
